Tell us what you are passionate about?
Always having considered myself a socialite – and a person of people – my journey as an event specialist began over a decade ago when I was involuntarily solicited to help a family member plan their wedding. Being the one who always had the creative insight, people always came to me for opinions and thoughts about how to make their event fun and unique. This niche’ turned into one of my greatest passions … event planning and seeing my vision come to fruition for my clients.
Do you believe it’s important for people to connect with their purpose and discover their passions?
I definitely believe that it is important for people to connect with their purpose – as we all have one in life. Knowing what your hidden talents are, exploring them, and acting on them is what sets each of us apart from the next person – this is why we are all different. There is no greater joy than doing something that you love and are passionate about whether its event planning, motherhood, sewing, or coaching … we all have a unique purpose, so be the best at what you LOVE to do and put your all into your gift.
Do you believe people should incorporate their purpose and passion into their personal and/or professional lives around their purpose and passion?
Absolutely! Having personally spent countless years in Corporate America, I always knew that there was some level of unhappiness and lack of fulfillment in my life – in my career. I could never figure out what until one day someone asked me – “what is it that you LOVE to do? What is the one thing that makes your heart sing when you do it?” And the first thing I said was – I absolutely love planning events because ……” So I knew from that point, I had to somehow incorporate that into my day-to-day. My current 9-5 position did not involve planning events, so at that point, I decided to turn my passion into something more official. In 2007, my company, Elegant Expose`, LLC was officially born.
What would you share with another woman about discovering her purpose and passions?
As women, we are natural at so many things. We possess so many “hidden” talents that we never take the time to explore because it’s easy for many of us to get complacent in our lives and end up getting bored or feeling lost within that particular life. I would tell any woman who has a passion, a talent, or just an urge to do something different, do it – without hesitation or fear! Explore that desire within you and discover your purpose! Always live on purpose … with purpose and you can’t go wrong in life.
Do you believe living life on purpose and owning your own success makes for a more fulfilled and satisfied life?
Definitely! When you are living your life with purpose, that means that you are working towards your own personal fulfillment. Life is too short to live it unsatisfied. Take whatever steps necessary to ensure that you are happy in your life and that your purpose is known!
As a woman walking in her own shoes what has been the sacrifice to get you to this place? Was it worth it?
There have been several sacrifices that I had to make, but my biggest one would have been the time I spend away from my family. I am a Wife and Mother of two so my time is always having to be split with them and my business. But over time, I’ve learned how to balance my personal and professional life. In the end, I can look back and say that it was well worth it because everything that I do was and is for the betterment of my family – to ensure that my contribution is enough to make our lives comfortable and fruitful.
What does the phase “women walking in their own shoes” mean to you?
“Women walking in their own shoes” to me means discovering your passion in life, taking control of your path, and taking the necessary steps towards reaching your goals and excelling your passion. It means not letting inhibitions hold you back from jumping out there and working your craft and being successful at it.
